The career-ending spinal injury to Malek Young in the Orange Bowl has thurst Bandy into a starting role with the Miami football team this season. Bandy is the only non-senior starter in the Miami secondary. Seniors, safeties Jaquan Johnson and Sheldrick Redwine and cornerback Michael Jackson fill out the starters in the secondary.
Bandy had 25 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and six pass breakups as a Freshman in 2017. In limited time as a backup, those were impressive numbers. He is going to have to continue to produce at the same level as a starter in 2018.
