Entering the season, the Hurricanes knew their young lineup would face some challenges, particularly early in the year.
And so, after dropping the finale of their opening-weekend series against Rutgers and struggling in an ugly midweek loss to Missouri, Miami was looking to get back on track Friday night.
That challenge was made all the more daunting by the fact the Hurricanes opponent — Florida — is the defending College World Series champion and the nation’s top-ranked team.
And while the Hurricanes managed some offensive fireworks early, the hard-hitting Gators eventually outslugged the Hurricanes in what was ultimately a 7-3 Florida win at Mark Light Stadium.
