Tate Martell garnered headlines from a young age.
The Las Vegas native was featured on “60 Minutes” as a burrowing football star, learning under quarterback guru Steve Clarkson.
Although most major college football programs came looking for the eventual U.S. Army All-American and USA Today National Player of the Year, the Miami Hurricanes did not offer Martell a position while he starred at Bishop Gorman High School.
Yet, Martell still wanted to be a Hurricane.
“I don’t know how much you guys kept up with me in high school, but I put Miami in my top seven without even talking to them because I wanted to come here,” Martell said.
