The Florida Gators started the 2023 season 5-2 before dropping five straight games to finish 5-7 on the year. Head coach Billy Napier is 11-14 in two seasons in Gainesville, FL after finishing his tenure at Louisiana with a record of 40-12.
The biggest issues in ‘the jump’ from G5 to P5, especially all the way to the SEC, are how many other obligations you have besides coaching. Larger staffs require more work, as do the recruiting operations, fundraising campaigns, and media availability.
It’s been a rocky start for Napier so far, and it will only get more difficult in ‘24.
