In Shawn Clark’s first season as a head football coach, the Appalachian State Mountaineers finished the 2020 season with a 9-3 record (6-2 in the Sun Belt). Clark’s first season after taking over for Eliah Drinkwitz was a success, especially considering the COVID-19 issues throughout college football.
Clark, a former App State offensive lineman, has been in Boone since the 2016 season where he was hired to coach the offensive line and serve as co-OC. Clark quickly moved up the ranks after Scott Satterfield and then Drinkwitz left for greener pastures in the ACC and SEC, respectively.
