The loss dropped the Tall Blacks to one and two in pool play. They finished in third place in the FIBA U19s Pool A. New Zealand’s lone win came in the opening game in Pool A against South Korea.
Waardenburg has played well in Cairo. He is averaging 12.3 points per game, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. He is shooting 48 percent from the floor but has made just ten of his 15 free throw attempts and is just one for five on three-point attempts.
Waardenburg also has 12 turnovers. Seven of those came in the game two loss to France.
