Like many defensive recruits – and Hurricanes fans in general – Jon Ford was curious.
When Mark Richt took over and hired Manny Diaz as his defensive coordinator, the expectation was that the Hurricanes would run a more aggressive scheme than they had in years past.
And while at Hard Rock Stadium in November to watch Miami’s 40-21 win over Duke in the regular-season finale, the Hurricanes commit saw the kind of defense he knew he wanted to be a part of.
“They had a swagger and you could see it,” said Ford, a 6-foot-6, 300-pound three-star defensive end prospect out of Fort Lauderdale’s Dillard High.
