Former Ravens star free safety Ed Reed officially retired Thursday during a news conference at the Ravens' training complex.
Reed will be inducted into the Ravens Ring of Honor on Nov. 22 at M&T Bank Stadium against the St. Louis Rams. General manager Ozzie Newsome said that Reed signed a one-day contract and will be placed on the reserve-retired list this week.
"Home is Baltimore," Reed said. "This is home. Baltimore, I love the city. I love this organization. I hope I did more than I was supposed to as a Raven."
Reed ranks sixth in NFL history in interceptions and was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2004, when he intercepted nine passes.
