Florida Sen. Marco Rubio joked that people may “have to go a little vegan” as the spread of coronavirus forces several meatpacking plants to suspend operations.
"This has to do with how many people can you make work inside one of these processing plants; they're all very close to each other," Rubio said.
After the Republican senator made the comment about veganism with a smile, the Fox hosts were speechless for a short moment before quickly changing the subject to federal relief efforts addressing the ailing economy, including the Paycheck Protection Program.
COVID-19 outbreaks at meat processing plants across the country have caused shortages at grocery stores and restaurants.
