Florida State came into its game at Miami with a pair of conference losses, but Hurricanes coach Jim Larrañaga was wary – of the Seminoles' size, of length and their ability to score quickly, something the Hurricanes remember well after what Xavier Rathan-Mayes did here a year ago.
And though Miami did a solid job of holding Rathan-Mayes in check, Larrañaga's fears weren't off base.
Despite leading by as many as 17 in the second half, the 12th-ranked Hurricanes had to fight off a late charge from the Seminoles before clinching a 72-59 win in a key ACC game at the BankUnited Center.
