Maybe it was the long stretch between games. Or some leftover exam stress.
But for some reason or another, it took a while for the 15th-ranked Hurricanes to find their rhythm on Saturday against a feisty Charleston team led by the son of a former Miami legend.
But moments after the Cougars pulled within three early in the second half, the Hurricanes went on 22-4 run fueled by sophomore Ja'Quan Newton and never looked back en route to an 85-63 win over Charleston on Saturday afternoon at the BankUnited Center.
The victory gave Miami coach Jim Larrañaga his 100th win at the school and sends the Hurricanes (9-1) into Tuesday's game against La Salle at Philadelphia's historic Palestra riding a four-game win streak.
