Mike played four seasons at Michigan in the 1980s. He was on Michigan’s 1982 Big Ten Champions that lost in the 1983 Rose Bowl, was the Wolverines Most Valuable Player in 1984, and named All-Big Ten after the ’84 season.
Mallory once again was named All-Big Ten in 1985 and was a finalist for the inaugural Butkus Award. Mallory helped lead a stout Michigan defense in 1985. The Wolverines allowed 8.2 Points Per Game to lead the country. Michigan finished the season 10-1-1, the runner-up in the Big Ten to Iowa and second in the final national rankings.
