Bill Courtney and Jim Larranaga go back more than 20 years. Courtney was on Larranaga’s staffs at Bowling Green and George Mason from 1996-2005. Courtney missed being on the Patriots staff during their 2006 run to the Final Four by one season. He joins the Miami basketball staff after two seasons at DePaul.
In six seasons at Cornell, Courtney complied a record of 60-113. The Big Red did not have a winning season in Courtney’s six-season tenure. Cornell’s best season under Courtney was 13-17 in 2014-15. Courtney played at Bucknell from 1988-92.
Courtney began his career as a college basketball coach as an assistant at American in 1995-96.
