One of the criticisms of Mark Richt during his three-year tenure as the Miami Hurricanes head coach was that he didn’t get the best out of his playmakers. Jeff Thomas began the 2018 season on a record-setting pace.
Thomas’ averages had him eyeing the Miami receiving yardage and all-purpose yardage records for a single season. Through the first three games of 2018, Thomas had 11 receptions for 304 yards and two touchdowns.
Thomas was putting up a gaudy 27.6 yards per reception. The Miami single-season record for receiving yards is 1,162 set by Leonard Hankerson in 2013.
