Gonzalez hit his first home run in the bottom of the first to get Miami on the board first with a 2-0 lead. Bethune-Cookman sliced the lead in half in the top of the second and the Hurricanes answered in the top of the third to regain their two-run lead.
The Wildcats gained control of the game with a three-run fourth inning. That ended Miami ace Jeb Bargfeldt’s evening. Bargfeldt excited after 3.2 innings and allowed four runs on five hits and two walks without any strikeouts. It was the shortest outing of his Hurricanes career.
B-C added a run in the sixth to take a 5-3 lead.
