The Cooperstown Collection started by Philadelphia-based apparel company Mitchell and Ness in a partnership with Major League Baseball, became popular and were the initiators of the retro uniforms becoming popular. The Cooperstown Collection began to be worn by athletes, entertainers, and celebrities and the retro craze took off in the late 1990’s, Early 2000’s.
There has been no official announcement from the University, but 247Sports Miami site, Inside the U is reporting through Lukas that the hoops team will also be going retro later in the season.
In the Inside the U report, they said the retro uniforms are believed to be from the late 1960s.
