Herndon was a fringe receiving option for Miami last season. He frequently played in a two tight end set with NFL first round draft pick David Njoku last season. Herndon finished the 2016 season with 28 receptions for 334 yards and two touchdowns.
Herndon was fourth on the team in receptions, yards and touchdowns last season. With Njoku and Stacy Coley heading to the NFL after last season, Herndon and last year’s leader in receiving yards Ahmmon Richards should pace Miami’s passing game this fall.
Miami has still yet to determine who will be under center when the team begins their season September 2 against Bethune-Cookman.
