Miami Hurricanes tennis player Estela Perez-Somarriba’s won the program’s first title since Miami Sports Hall of Famer and currently Oklahoma Women’s Head Coach Audra Cohen in 2007. Perez-Somarriba who is from Madrid is the two-time ACC Player of the Year.
Perez-Somarriba who was the top seed dropped just two sets in six matches on her way to the title. She had to rally from a set down in the round of 16 and the finals to earn victories. Perez-Somarriba rallied to defeat Paola Delgado of VCU 4-6, 6-0, 7-6 in the quarterfinal before earning the title against Jokic.
