Miami Hurricanes safety Avantae Williams suspended after being arrested, charged with battery

Miami Hurricanes safety Avantae Williams has been suspended by the program after being arrested late Wednesday night and charged with three counts of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, according to Miami-Dade County arrest records.

Williams, 20, was Miami’s top recruit in its 2020 recruiting class and was listed as the No. 1 safety prospect in the 2020 recruiting class by Rivals.

UM stated through a program spokesperson: “We are aware that football student-athlete Avantae Williams has been arrested by the Miami-Dade Police Department. He was immediately suspended from all team activities.”
