Recruiting is never an exact science. Briggs chose Florida State after the various crystal balls on recruiting websites projected that Briggs would sign with the Miami Hurricanes. The departures of Briggs and Norton, plus the graduation of their backup Anthony Moten has created openings for playing time this fall at defensive tackle.
Pat Bethel and Jon Ford are the only Hurricanes returning on the defensive interior that had playing time last season. Miami will get back Gerald Willis who sat out last season. They have an oral commitment from four-star defensive tackle Nesta Silvera. He chose not to sign a Letter of Intent during the early signing period last month.
