The Hurricanes also won their second ACC Championship in three seasons and made their record 44th straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Miami finished the 2016 season 50-14 and earned the number three national seed in the NCAA Tournament.
They advanced to the College World Series after winning two out of three games in the Super Regional against Boston College. The Hurricanes did not last long in Omaha. They lost 5-1 to Arizona and 5-3 to California Santa Barbara and were ousted from the CWS.
The Hurricanes return 15 letter winners from 2016 and had seven players drafted. The 2015 team had five players drafted.
