Tate Martell joined the Miami Hurricanes football program in January after transfering from Ohio State. Martell chose to leave Columbus after former Georgia quarterback Justin Fields joined the Buckeyes football program.
The battle to become the starting QB for the Miami Hurricanes will now be between Martell, Rising Redshirt Sophomore and part time 2018 starter N’Kosi Perry and Rising Redshirt Freshman Jarren Williams. Martell is the heavy favorite to lead the Hurricanes offense on to the field on August 24 in Orlando against the Florida Gators.
The approval of Martell’s waiver means he has three seasons of eligibility at Miami.
