The Miami Hurricanes got their first commitment from an inside linebacker in the 2021 recruiting class on Wednesday night, when Orlando Edgewater three-star prospect Deshawn Troutman gave UM his pledge.
"I wanna thank my family,” Troutman wrote on Twitter. "Not just blood, but the people that stand by you at your worst. ... I’m officially committed to the University of Miami.”
Troutman also had Florida State, Louisville and West Virginia among his offers. He is the nation’s No. 32-ranked inside linebacker, according to 247 Sports, and unranked by Rivals, which also gives him a three-star rating.
Troutman brings the Hurricanes’ recruiting class up to 14 commitments.
