The Hurricanes have had 24 first round picks since 2002. Miami had a record streak from 1995 to 2008 with a player being selected in the first round. They specifically mentioned the Hurricanes producing Andre Johnson, Ed Reed and Devin Hester.
Reed, Hester, Antrel Rolle, Bradon Meriweather and Sean Taylor were all named all-pro after being drafted at defensive back. Eight of their 17 draftees were multi-season starters per ESPN. Miami had the “highest draft share and highest performance share by a landslide”.
ESPN also said that Miami took the tight end position in a “runaway”. Their success was mainly driven by Jimmy Graham, Jeremy Shockey and Greg Olsen.
