Trayone Gray has been a halfback/tailback during the first three years of his Miami Hurricanes career. Gray began last season third on the depth chart.
He wasn’t able to produce when he moved up to second when Mark Walton was lost for the season. He has rushed for just 211 yards and three touchdowns and has just two receptions for 17 yards in three seasons.
Miami is expected to use more pro-sets this season. They are going to need more players that can lineup at fullback. Many attributed Miami’s struggles in short yardage last season to not having a fullback.
