The Hurricanes win propels them to a meeting with third-seeded Wake Forest on Thursday with a chance to advance to Saturday’s Semifinals. Catcher Joe Gomez was the hero.
Gomez singled home Edgar Michelangeli in the bottom of the 13th after first baseman Christopher Barr had singled sending Michangeli to third. Michelangeli walked with one out to set the table. Hunter Tackett struck out for the second out before Barr and Gomez came through.
Andrew Cabezas was dominant for the Hurricanes in relief. He threw 6.1 innings walked two without allowing a hit and struck out 10. The Hurricanes bullpen held the Yellow Jackets without a hit from the sixth through the top of the 13.
