Andrew Ivins from 247Sports’ website Inside the U broke the news of the Miami Hurricanes new punter via Twitter. On 45 punts in 2017 Hedley averaged 38.6 yards, with eight kicks inside the 20, seven fair catches forced and two touchbacks.
Miami’s punting has been abysmal this season and has frequently given the Hurricanes opponents excellent field position. Between poor coverage on punt returns and inconsistent punting, Miami is 125th out of 129 teams in FBS with a net punting average of 32.61 yards.
Sophomore Jeff Feagles and Junior Jack Spicer have split the punting duties for the Miami Hurricanes this season.
