Miami Hurricanes redshirt senior forward Sam Waardenburg will be returning to UM for the 2021-22 season, the Miami men’s basketball team announced on Wednesday.
Waardenburg, who will be back for a sixth college basketball season, is utilizing the extra year of eligibility the NCAA has granted athletes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He missed the entire 2020-21 season due to a left foot injury.
“I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the program right now,” Waardenburg said in a statement. “I still have that desire and aspiration to get back to the NCAA Tournament. Winning is what I am focused on, not individual accolades.
