The Outland Trophy is one of the nation’s oldest awards. It honors the best interior lineman on either offense or defense. It has been awarded since 1946. The Rimington Trophy goes to the best center in college football. It has been given out since 2000. A Miami Hurricanes player hasn’t won either since 2002.
Nose tackle Russell Maryland in 1990 and offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie in 2001 are the only Miami Hurricanes players to be honored with the Outland Trophy. Brett Romberg is the only Hurricane to receive the Rimington Award.
