Friday night’s matchup in the second Puerto Rico Tip-Off semifinal featured a battle between Miami and No. 16 Utah. When the horn sounded to end the game though, it was the Hurricanes that looked like the ranked team after a dominant performance.
Using a season-high 27 points from Sheldon McClellan and a double-double from Tonye Jekiri, Miami easily cruised past Utah with a 90-66 victory and advanced to Sunday’s final vs. Butler.
From wire-to-wire, Coach Jim Larranaga’s squad gave the Utes no room to breathe on the defensive end and were very efficient on the offensive end.
