Miami Hurricanes Baseball Loses Two of Three at Virginia

The Hurricanes won game one of a Saturday doubleheader after the series was delayed from a Friday rainout.

Miami won the opener 5-1 behind a brilliant pitching performance from ace Jeb Bargfeldt. Bargfeldt pitched a complete game giving up one run on three hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

The Hurricanes gave Miami’s ace the lead before he even took the mound. A RBI double by Johnny Ruiz drove in Carl Chester to give the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

Second baseman Romy Gonzalez extended the lead to 4-0 with a three-run home run in the top of the top of the third.
