The Hurricanes opened the scoring with a three-run third inning and were backed by a gem from Evan McKendry. McKendry went seven innings allowing just two hits and two walks with ten strikeouts. He improved to 4-2 on the season.
An Edgar Michelangeli bases clearing double got the Hurricanes on the board in the third. That was all they needed behind McKendry. The clutch hit from the Hurricanes third baseman came on an 0-2 pitch with two outs. Michelangeli finished the night 2-4 with the three RBIs from the six spot in the lineup.
Miami added single runs in the fourth and sixth for the 5-1 win.
