Miami Hurricanes Baseball Could Lose Several Signees

Four Miami Hurricanes signees were selected in the first round rounds of the MLB entry draft. Shortstop Jeter Downs was a compensation pick between the first and second round to Cincinnati. Third baseman Joe Perez was a second round pick by the Astros. Third baseman/shortstop Mark Vientos was selected six picks later by the Mets.

After Downs, Perez and Vientos went on day one, UM lost another highly ranked prospect on day two. Pitcher Robert Marinan was picked in the fourth round by the Dodgers.

They will almost definitely lose all four players. Downs slot value at 32 means he can earn a bonus of $2,084,400.
