Miami Hurricanes Baseball Alum Yonder Alonso Chosen For AL All-Star Team

One former Miami Hurricanes baseball player will be coming home as a member of the American League All-Star team. Oakland A’s first baseman Yonder Alonso who has almost doubled his career home run output this season has been named to the All-Star team.

The All-Star game will take place on July 11 at Marlins Park. Alonso is the only player appearing in the game that played his collegiate baseball for the Miami Hurricanes.

Alonso is hitting .281 with 17 home runs and 38 RBIs for the American League worst 35-46 A’s this season. The 17 home runs are eight more than his career high.
