Miami Hurricanes 2019 Player Preview: Jonathan Garvin

When Jonathan Garvin came to Miami from the class of 2017, his signing filled several needs. He was a top 300 player and one of the best defensive ends in the nation. He came from Lake Worth, fulfilling the Hurricanes’ desire to getting back to dominating the state of Miami. And as a 4-star recruit, he was one of the best players that the Mark Richt-led Canes recruited from the 2017 class.

Garvin flashed as a freshman, utilized as a rotational pass rusher for Manny Diaz’s deep defensive end group. After his first year saw him accrue 3 TFLs and 2 sacks, big things were expected for Garvin in 2018, with starter Chad Thomas graduating.
