On June 6th of 2016, Kimbo Slice passed away from heart failure. Born as Kevin Ferguson, Kimbo attended Miami for three semesters and studied criminal justice. He grew up a Miami fan and was a standout linebacker for Miami Palmetto High School. Then, Hurricane Andrew pounced all over Florida, destroying Kimbo’s home as well as a large part of his high school. He lived out of his car and and his football season and career was cut short (Kimbo ended up trying out for the Dolphins but did not make the team). Eventually he attended his dream school of Miami on an athletic scholarship but transferred to Bethune-Cookman after a year and a half.
