The game against Florida is the first against the Gators since 2013. It’s a good opportunity for the Miami football program to face a rival and to get to a part of the state they do not play in often. Miami last played in Orlando in the Camping World Bowl against West Virginia in 2016. That was Miami’s first Bowl win in 10 years.
Greg Likens’ report was that Miami was originally scheduled to play Alabama in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff game in Atlanta on August 31 to begin this seasons. The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson mentioned Likens stated that Florida contacted Miami about playing on the same date this season.
