Miami football game against Virginia Tech almost didn’t happen

The Miami football game at Virginia Tech was almost canceled on Saturday with 13 Hurricanes out because of COVID-19.

The Miami football team was missing 13 players in their 25-24 victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday. Miami almost did not play because of the potential of not be able to compete at several position groups. The Hurricanes were missing four players each on the offensive and defensive lines plus three starters overall.

Starters, left guard Jakai Clark, defensive tackle Jared Harrison-Hunte and weakside linebacker Zach McCloud were all out against Virginia Tech.
