The scrimmage was closed to both the media and the public. Miami Head Coach Mark Richt met with reporters after the game. The first thing Richt mentioned in the post-scrimmage press conference was that it was probably the longest scrimmage he’s been a part of. He stated that’s because the Miami football team has more depth.
Richt has routinely stated that one of the biggest jobs early in his tenure is building up the depth. That showed when the Miami football team lost Mark Walton, Chris Herndon and Ahmmon Richards at various parts of 2017 with season-ending injuries.
