Most of the early season rankings have Miami Basketball between 11th and 26th. The BPI is a metric measure of past performances of returning players and coaches, the percentage of minutes played a team has returning and the recruiting rankings.
The NCAA Selection Committee still uses what many consider to be the antiquated RPI system to help select and seed the tournament. They recently voted to add road wins when they consider how the teams will be selected and seeded.
The BPI is broken down into offensive and defensive rankings. Miami was ranked 39th on offense and 29th on defense.
