Duke scored the first six points of the game, stretched the lead to 45-16 in the first half and settled into a 48-24 halftime lead. The Miami basketball team played at less than full strength. Chris Lykes entered Tuesday night with a groin injury and Kam McGusty was recovering from back spasms.
Miami legacy, Duke freshman center Vernon Carey, who dominated the Hurricanes in Coral Gables did not have as much of an impact in Durham. Duke freshman forward Matthew Hurt lived up to his name against Miami on Tuesday night. The Minnesota native put a hurt on Miami with 22 points including 4-7 on three-point attempts.
