Hernandez did after also deciding to return to the Miami basketball program for his Junior season after initially entering his name in the NBA Draft. He was not one of the players selected to participate in the NBA Combine in Chicago this summer. Hernandez’s prospects of being drafted were low without a combine invite.
Hernandez made the name change legal within the last week according to the Miami Herald. He told the Herald it was something he has thought about doing for a long time and that he changed his last name to honor his mom.
