Virginia Tech went on a 24-3 first-half run after falling behind 16-8 and never looked back as they cruised to an 84-70 victory over the Miami basketball team. The Hokies expanded the lead after the run, led by as many as 18 and took a 45-31 lead at halftime.
Miami took the eight-point lead behind six points from Ebuka Izundu. The Hurricanes would miss 11 of their next 13 shots after the impressive start. As with the Miami women’s basketball team earlier in the day against Syracuse the men were buried by three-pointers.
Virginia Tech made 14 of their 26 three-point shots on the night.
