Miami baseball sweeps Rutgers in three games to begin season

The run margin in the series for the Miami baseball team was reminiscent of a halftime score in football when Rutgers and Miami used to play each other yearly in the Big East. The signs of a poor offense from the last two seasons did not materialize against the Scarlet Knights.

Miami began the DiMare era with a 19-3 victory on Friday night, won 9-1 on Saturday evening and 7-3 on Sunday. Four Hurricanes hit over .400 this weekend and Miami got outstanding starting pitching to earn the sweep.

Junior Evan McKendry is being counted on to be the Friday night starter this season.
