The Miami baseball team swept Virginia with a pair of outstanding pitching performances from Chris McMahon and Brian VanBelle in the final two games of the series after winning the opener 9-6. The Hurricanes and Cavaliers played a doubleheader on Saturday after Friday night’s game was rained out.
Evan McKendry had one of his worst outings of the season in game one on Saturday. McKendry pitched well enough to improve to 6-1 in 2019. He threw 6.1 innings, allowed 10 hits, six runs, four earned, with one walk and three strikeouts.
After falling behind 2-0 in the bottom of the second Miami surged ahead with a five-run third inning.
