For the third straight year, the Hurricanes football team will have a new look.
While some of their previous new uniforms have had flashier, more modern elements, this collection is intended to invoke memories of uniforms past, prompting Adidas to dub it the “Legend of the U.”
The uniforms, which the Hurricanes will wear for the first time on Oct. 8 when they host Florida State, feature block lettering on the name plate, as well as block numbers and stripes on the shoulder in Miami’s school colors of orange, green and white.
“The retro style uniforms were designed as a nod to the legacy and domination of the teams from the 80s and 90s, which saw the Hurricanes win four national championships,” Adidas and Miami said in a joint statement describing the uniforms, which were unveiled at an event on campus at Miami’s Rathskeller on Monday afternoon.
