The decision by former Wake Forest quarterback Jamie Newman to sign with Georgia is the second major quarterback in the transfer portal that the Miami football program has lost out on this week. Former Texas Tech QB Jett Duffey announced on Thursday that he was transferring to Tulane.
Newman was top QB nationally in the transfer portal. In addition to Georgia and Miami, the former Demon Deacon signal-caller was also considering Maryland, Oregon and Washington. At 6’4 230 pounds, Newman has the ideal size to fit the new Miami spread offense under recently hired offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee.
