A victory over Louisiana Tech in the Independence Bowl for the Miami football team will avoid the Hurricanes’ first losing season since 2014. The 2014 season also ended in the Independence Bowl with a loss to South Carolina. The Hurricanes finished the 2014 season 6-7 after the loss to the Gamecocks.
Louisiana Tech travels to Shreveport, just an hour from their Ruston campus with a 9-3 record. Miami has won all four meetings with Louisiana Tech by an average margin of 26 points. The Bulldogs began the season 8-1 before losing two of their final three games.
