When the Hurricanes take to the Greentree practice fields on Tuesday to begin their on-field preparations for Saturday’s game at Duke, they’ll do so under circumstances they’ve never experienced.
On Sunday evening, a day after the worst loss in school history, Miami announced it had fired coach Al Golden and made tight ends coach Larry Scott the interim coach.
The midseason coaching change is uncharted territory for Miami’s players and for Scott, who publicly spoke for the first time about his new role during WQAM 560’s Hurricane Hotline show Monday night.
The show is broadcast from Miami’s campus and dozens of fans, Miami staffers and even a handful of players were in attendance to show support for Scott, who takes over a team that is trying to rebound after Saturday’s 58-0 loss to Clemson and pick up a crucial conference win this week.
