The good news is Mark Richt resigned. Good? That seems harsh and sounds all wrong, considering Richt is a good man and a fine coach who until this past, inexplicable season had things trending well at Miami.
But, yes, this is the best ending possible when you get past Sunday’s surprise, consider all the involved options and walk around how a simple resignation comes as relief, even good news, for all.
It’s good for Richt, who obviously felt the fire burn out and probably was overwhelmed by the challenge ahead. It’s good for Miami, whose football program had such problems by the end of this season the clock already was ticking on Richt next season.
